The All-Russia scientific and practical conference – "Intellectual
property in the economy of enterprises" – took place at the
International Trade Center from 9 to 10 October, 2002. The conference
was organized by Business League Communication Group, Chamber of
Commerce and Industry of the RF, and NIKA Holding Company.
The conference was attended by more than 250 top-managers of large
Russian companies, representatives of legislative and executive bodies,
leading specialists in the field of protection and management of
intellectual property. The two-day conference was opened by E. M.
Primakov, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the RF.
In his opening speech Mr. Primakov said: “The purpose of the conference
is not just to inform the participants and the society about
prospective commercial use of intellectual property, increase awareness
and improve legal culture of the Russian business community in the
field of protection and management of industrial property. The primary
goal of the conference is to join intellectual and administrative
efforts to create a favourable environment for sustainable development
of science and high technologies in Russia, establish a civilized
intellectual property market, ensure rise in profits of Russian
enterprises and federal budget revenues. This should be achieved
through competent commercial use of the results of intellectual
activities. This is the first All-Russia conference focusing on the
role of intellectual property in the economy of enterprises”.
